The YSC Player Rankings are live: the top 40 USA-eligible prospects in every birth year from 2007 to 2011. Here's what's on the board, how we build it and how to see the whole list.
The Top 40, by birth year
There are five classes, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, with 40 players each, for 200 prospects in total.
The pool is wide. It includes:
- players already starting for MLS first teams
- players at academies in Germany, England, Spain and Italy
- U.S. youth internationals
- MLS NEXT standouts still building their names
Who's eligible
Any player who can still play for the United States. That includes dual nationals. Many of the best young American-eligible players could also represent Mexico, Germany, England or elsewhere. Until a player commits to another country, he's eligible for our board.
What every row shows
- Rating out of 10: our overall assessment of the player today.
- Position and club: kept up to date as players move.
- Movement arrow: how far a player climbed or fell since the last update. New entries are marked.
How we build it
- Human evaluation: our staff's read on level of play, role, minutes and trajectory.
- Performance data: pro and academy minutes, goals and assists, national team call-ups, debuts and transfers.
- AI assistance: AI tools help us process the data and flag movement, but our staff decide the final order.
The boards change as the season does. A first-team debut, a move abroad or a U.S. call-up can move a player up quickly. The rankings are editorial opinions and aren't affiliated with or endorsed by any league, club or governing body.
