The U.S. U-17 Women's National Team is through to the knockout rounds of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco, but the road gets much harder from here.
Group E
The U.S. opened with a 17-0 win over Samoa in Rabat. That's the biggest win in the history of the tournament, beating Morocco's 16-0 win over New Caledonia at last year's men's U-17 World Cup.
Next came a 6-1 win over Kenya on Oct. 22. A 3-2 loss to China PR in the final group game dropped the Americans to second in Group E.
Round of 16: Spain
Finishing second means a game against Spain, who won all three of their group games against Chile, Mexico and Australia.
USA vs. Spain is on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. ET at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat.
Spain is one of the best teams in women's youth soccer. Scoring goals hasn't been a problem for the U.S. The China game showed the defense can be got at, and Spain will test it.
