From UPSL to Spain: James Czapka’s Leap to Rayo Vallecano

Not every player goes through an academy or signs early. Some take the long route.
At 19 years old, left back James Czapka was playing in the UPSL, competing in Central Florida with Clermont F.C. and later Orbita F.C. — grinding it out in a league where nothing is handed to you.

Now he’s in Spain.

Czapka recently signed with Rayo Vallecano and is currently playing with their youth team in Madrid. It’s a serious level — fast, technical, and directly connected to the pro pathway.

The jump from UPSL to Spain isn’t easy. The game moves quicker, the margin for error is smaller, and everything is more tactical. But that’s exactly the kind of environment he wanted.

No shortcuts. Just progression.

What makes this story stand out is the path. No academy hype, no early spotlight — just consistency, development, and taking a shot when the opportunity came.

Now he’s in Madrid, surrounded by that next level every day.

And at 19… he’s just getting started.
